Omar is the longest standing member of The Raiders, aside from Paul himself, having joined the Raiders 31 years ago. He began learning drums and percussion in his native Havana. Omar left Cuba and moved to the USA at the age of 13. He turned pro at 15 and by age 19, Omar had become the powerful drummer for the Miami based band, "Peach". It was while in Peach that his consummate drumming and dynamic voice captured the attention of Paul Revere in 1972. Always in demand for studio work, Omar has played on many major sessions such as K.C. & The Sunshine Band.
